This client’s property has been in the family for generations.
They were looking at knocking the old home down and building a duplex, but it all got too hard with planning and was too costly. This is when they spoke with us about building a granny flat instead.
Obviously, they were concerned about being able to get planning permission for a granny flat on their block as it was only 400m2. We were able to guide them through the process to make sure they got approval, and we ended up building a 74m2 granny flat.
Construction here had many challenges; overhead powerlines, 980mm access down one side an electrical metre box from the 50s (which was upgraded for the granny flat) and very little street parking!
The clients are interstate and we have kept them in the loop with bi-weekly WhatsApp updates and bombarded them with photos.
They’ve ended up with beautiful granny flat with 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen, living area and a 15m2 deck, all 20 seconds walk to the beach.
